voyage of danish discovery

Learn about Customs, Culture, History, Geography and Much More!

  • Discover your personal roots… hometowns, villages, churches, and meaningful family landmarks
  • Custom 10 day - 2 week tour usually during summer months
  • Primarily for Americans of Danish heritage - 18-40 years old, but can be modified for family groups.

The National Foundation for Danish America believes that young people of Danish heritage will become passionate about their heritage once they have visited the land of their ancestors. Young Danish Americans with passion about their ancestry will preserve Danish culture for future generations.

So each year, on our Voyage of Discovery, we will provide guided tours of Denmark to include points of interest throughout the country including Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg and the Rebild festival, and historic sites throughout Sjælland, Fyn, and Jutland.

If possible, we will include stops at points of interest of your personal family history including homes of relatives, former ancestor homesites and farms, family gravesites and churches and villages. We will do our best to help you find these locations through family history and genealogy resources prior to the trip.

A Voyage of Discovery Scholarship Fund is being established through the Foundation, and we encourage inquiries for those interested in the trip, and contributions to the scholarship fund.
