ASF Fellowships & Grants

Information on grants and awards for educational and cultural exchange opportunities is available for individual applicants, American universities and non-profit organizations.

Bodtker Grants

The Danish American Heritage Society is pleased to offer grants to qualified researchers for study in area of common interest. Bodtker Grants provide stipends of up to $5,000 for students or graduates interested in exploring topics related to Danish history and heritage in North America.

A Bodtker Grant is primarily intended for research and internship at Danish American Archive and Library in Blair, Nebraska; the Danish American Archive at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa; or the Museum of Danish America in Elk Horn, Iowa. At the Board's discretion, proposals involving other Danish cultural and archival institutions may be considered.

Deadlines: April 15 (Notification: May) or September 15(Notification: October)

Stipend Amount: Up to $5,000

Dana College Legacy Scholarship

The 2022 Dana College Foundation Legacy Scholarship application deadline is March 31 each year. Two winners will be selected to receive $5,000.00 each toward tuition at a qualifying college or university.

Students must be descendants (children, grandchildren, great grandchildren) of Dana College alumni, faculty or staff. The students must attend a four-year, liberal arts, Christian-affiliated college or university. Students may apply regardless of their class year in college — incoming freshman through seniors.

The scholarships are funded through the generosity of alumni and other donors, estate gifts, as well as sales of Dana logo gear and other memorabilia.

Danish American Language Foundation Scholarships

The Danish American Language Foundation is a charitable foundation established in 1976 that aims to preserve and promote the Danish Language and Culture in America. One of the ways that DALF tries to realize this goal is to provide scholarships for young people to get Danish language education in Denmark and the United States. DALF Scholarship opportunities are available for Danish American families all over the United States.

DNC Scholarships

Each year, the Danish National Committee of Southern California offers scholarships to young people of Danish descent with legal residence in Southern California (Zip Codes 90000-93599). Applicants must be graduating seniors in High School or attending any College, University or Accredited Trade School, however must not be over 25 years old as of June 1, the year of the application.

Applications are received in the spring, with the deadline in early May. Scholarships are normally awarded at the Southern California Danish Grundlovsfest Celebration in early June. Watch the NFDA website or click below for the DNC website for more information.

Danish Sisterhood Scholarships & Grants

The Danish Sisterhood of America is very proud of its Scholarship and Grant Program. We have four different scholarships, one of which presently offers eight awards per year, and one grant program offering ten awards annually – five are given in February (the “January Round”) and five in September (the “August Round”). These scholarships and grants are available to members of the Danish Sisterhood and their children, regardless of age.

NWDA Scholarship Programs

Each year the Association awards scholarships to young men and women who reside in either Washington or Oregon for their education studying Danish language and literature, arts and crafts, history, political science and other degrees. For almost 20 years, our scholarship awards have helped make educational dreams a reality.

Rebild National Park Society Scholarships

Rebild National Park Society Inc. is the administrator of 5 scholarships established to make it financially possible for American students to continue their studies in Denmark and Danish students to continue their studies in the US. If you are a US student who has been accepted as a student at a Danish institution of higher education or you are a Danish student who has been accepted as a student at an American institution of higher education, we would he happy to receive your application for financial assistance.

Upper Midwest Rebild Scholarships

Upper Midwest Rebild Scholarship (UMRSC) encourages American college students to study, learn, and experience Denmark, one of the happiest countries! We offer scholarships for students who choose to immerse themselves in Danish culture and customs, and think about their careers from a global perspective based on the Danish values of cooperation and friendship for the mutual benefit of all.

Scan Design Foundation

The Scan|Design Foundation BY INGER & JENS BRUUN was established by the Bruuns to promote and strengthen the relationship between their native Denmark and their adopted home, the United States. Throughout their lives, even after they had immigrated to the US, Denmark continued to hold a place in their hearts, and with the formation of this Foundation their vision of strengthening the relationship and goodwill between the two countries is carried on.
