PLANNING FOR SUMMER FESTIVALS INCLUDING REBILD IS TENTATIVE
As we head into spring with the uncertainty of the COVID situation, organizations are trying their best to plan for summer festivals and events.
“Everything is uncertain and the restrictions must be gone at the time to make it happen. But I believe and hope there will be Rebild Picnic on the (July) 2nd and Rebild Gala Dinner on the 3rd. There will for sure be a Rebild Festival on the 4th - it will be a combination of online and the number of people we are allowed to be present in Rebild. If we are down to 50 people again there will still be an online Rebild Celebration”, says Lars Bisgaard, Rebild National Park Society General Secretary.
Niels Voigt Guldbjerg added, “We at the Danish American Club are also planning our events on the 2nd of July (Garden Party) and the Majors Lunch and Tree Planting Ceremony on the 3rd of July. At this time it is difficult to know how open Denmark will be in July, but the latest indication are that most of the population will be fully vaccinated by July. Therefore we hope and pray that our events can be held as planned.”
But the situation changes almost daily. On Friday, this news came out of Denmark -
“A delay in expected vaccine deliveries has resulted in Denmark revising its vaccination programme to now be completed three weeks later than previously targeted.
Health authorities now expects everyone who wishes to receive the Covid-19 vaccine to have been inoculated (with both doses where relevant) by July 18th, Danish media including national broadcaster DR reported on Friday.
The most recent plan for the roll-out of the vaccine in Denmark, published on February 26th, aimed to complete vaccinations by June 27th. That date has now been put back by three weeks.
A new version of the plan, with the later date, was sent to health spokespersons in parliament by the Ministry of Health. DR reports it has seen a copy of the email.
The change is due in part to delivery delays, according to DR’s report.” (From -The Local dk)
Here in the U.S., we have heard from representatives of Tivolifest in Elk Horn (May 29-30), and The Danish Festival in Greenville, MI (August 20-21). Both are moving ahead with plans for their respective festivals. But, things can change based on the CDC recommendations. In Greenville, they are now taking vendor applications for the Downtown Artisan Fair & Boutique. In Solvang, meetings have been held to discuss the September Danish Days festival. But a representative told us it is still too early to make any definite plans. They asked that you watch their website for updates www.SolvangDanishDays.org. NFDA will also continue to watch for updates, and include any information on our website and in our newsletter.
It is quite probable that the rescheduled Arizona Rebild USA Conference in October will be held. You can see the current schedule of events here.
